Missionaries Have a Flight Plan Too: by Niome Hernandez
Part 1 Scene I
(In this scene it will be the host and a puppet from the skit Flight Plan)
Host: Hey Sleepy, Sleepy!!
P1: (enters because the Host calls him up) Hello ______.
Host: Hello Sleepy how are you?
P1: I’m doing good.
Host: I heard that you learned a great lesson today
P1: Oh yea, I learned that God has a plan for my life
Host: What’s his plan, Sleepy?
P1: It’s like an airplane flight, just as an airplane flight has a purpose
for being and a destination point, there is a purpose for our lives
and a place where we are going.
Host: It’s like when a person wants to take a vacation they have to
plan the trip and pick a place. The Pilot will be the one to help
get them there.
P1: Yes God’s first plan is for you and me to understand his purpose
for our lives and what we should do to get us where he wants us
to be.
Host: Today the children are learning about Missionaries do you have
any ideas about their flight plan.
P1: I don’t, but I can ask my friend to help me and then I’ll let you
know.
Host: That would be great Sleepy, Go ask him and come back later.
P1: Ok I’ll see you guys later (puppet exits)
Host: (At this point the host can talk to the children before the puppet
renters the scene)
Part 2 Scene II
(two puppets enter already talking as if in a conversation)
P1: I’m glad I caught you in time
P2: I was about to go shoot some hoops with the guys
P1: Well I need your help again
P2: What is it this time?
P1: Remember you told me about God’s plan for me and how it’s like a
flight plan.
P2: You didn’t forget already did you?
P1: No, I didn’t forget, now I have a question on Missionaries.
P2: Ok shoot, what’s your question?
P1: Does God have a flight plan for Missionaries?
P2: Ummmm let me think a minute (pauses) yes, Missionaries have
their own flight plan.
P1: So what is there’s like?
P2: Missionaries obey what the bible says about going and making
Disciples of all nations, a Disciple is someone who obeys and
follows his leader.
P1: What does that mean?
P2: Missionaries are to help people become obedient followers of God.
P1: So what’s their flight plan?
P2: First they must evangelize, and to evangelize is to tell others
about salvation. Salvation is accepting Jesus as your savior.
P1: What else do they do?
P2: The second part of their plan is to teach people to Worship, we
learn to Worship by obeying, loving, trusting and praying to God.
P1: Why does a Missionary do these things?
P2: A Missionary does these things to show God’s love to people. A
Missionary will help people understand God will help them through
the power of the Holy Spirit.
P1: What other plans does the Missionary have?
P2: The next plan is to train new Christians to live as Jesus wants.
Now the new Christian will continue to learn and grow.
P1: What happens to the new Christian?
P2: Once the new Christian is ready, he will become like the
Missionary he will evangelize, teach people to worship and he will
train new Christians to live as Jesus wants.
P1: Wow, a Missionaries flight plan is so hard
P2: Not really because you and I could be a Missionary.
P1: Me?
P2: Yes you, the bible wants all Christians to go out and make new
Disciples.
P1: I guess I could try
P2: You could do it because Jesus’ spirit will help you
P1: Thanks for the information; I’m going to tell the kids in Kid’z club
everything you told me.
P2: Have fun Sleepy, I’ll see you later, bye
P1: Bye (both puppets exit)
(P1 will come back when the Host is ready and then they will discuss the Missionaries flight plan)
This skit goes with the other skit “Flight Plan”. We were doing both skits on the same Sunday so that the children would learn that not only does God have a plan for them but for others as well.
But you could split them if you like
Have fun, Niome H.
