Give Me Some Food

Give me some food, I’m hungry
                                   By Niome Hernandez

(This skit is about the importance of the Holy Communion)

Characters: Host (teacher)
                   Sleepy (Puppet)

Sleepy: (pops up) Hello kids, Guess what I was doing? I was out with
Cinderella and we walked around the whole park.  All that walking
has got me hungry, Can you give me a piece of that bread?

Host: Hello Sleepy.

Sleepy: Oh Hi, (sounding nervous) I didn’t see you there.

Host: Sorry Sleepy but you can’t have any of this bread.

Sleepy: Why not, give me some food I’m hungry!

Host: This bread is part of my sermon.

Sleepy: Well, If I can’t have bread, give me some juice – I’m thirsty.

Host: Sorry Sleepy, you can’t have that either.

Sleepy: I always knew you didn’t love me, But to leave me hungry and
            thirsty, Shame on you.

Host: Sleepy this is for my sermon on the Holy Communion.  You know I love
You and your my favorite puppet.

Sleepy: The Holy What??

Host: The Holy Communion.

Sleepy: What is that?

Host: The Holy Communion is a celebration; it is a time for us to celebrate
And remember the fact that Jesus died on a cross for our sins and to
         bring us freedom.

Sleepy: Freedom from what?

Host: Freedom from sin, Sleepy, When Jesus died on the cross, he became
our Savior and because of his sacrifice, we can be free from sin. Sin if
we let it can become our master and we can become slaves to it. Jesus
         came to bring us freedom.

Sleepy: But why do you have bread and juice? How can that bring us
            freedom?

Host: The bread and juice are symbols; they represent the body of Christ.

Sleepy: I don’t get it?

Host: The bread represents Jesus Body and when we eat the bread we
should remember that his body was broken and hurt, this can be found
in your bible in Matthew 26:26.

Sleepy: What about the Juice?

Host: The juice represents Jesus Blood that was shed on the cross, His
Blood free’s us from sin, and heals us when we are sick. His Blood
covers us and protects us from the evil one. This is also in Matthew
         26:27,28.

Sleepy: Now that I know the symbols why can’t I eat some bread?

Host: Because the bible says we cannot eat this in an unworthy manner. To
eat it because you are hungry, would be disrespectful to Jesus. Your
heart must be pure before you take the Holy Communion.

Sleepy: Oh I see, but what if I think my heart is pure?

Host: No Sleepy, you must pray first and ask God to search your heart, you
can not have any sin in your heart before you take the Holy
          Communion.

Sleepy: I get now; I guess maybe I can take the Holy Communion on another
day when my heart is ready.

Host: Good Sleepy I’m glad you understand – maybe you can go to
         McDonalds?

Sleepy: Hey Niome, Can I have five bucks?

Host: Oh Sleepy, you may be my favorite puppet but I’m not going to give you
          Money!

Sleepy: Oh well, it was worth a try (laughs)

Puppet exits and this is the end of the puppet skit.

The host can go on with the sermon on the Holy Communion.
