P1: Good morning, children, and welcome to this edition of “The Price is Right”! Let’s get right to it and welcome our contestants. Contestant #1 is Molly Moneybags!
P2: Hello, everyone!
P1: Molly is one of the richest ladies in town. She has the biggest house in town, the nicest clothes, and you should see her swimming pool! You could float a yacht in it!
P2: I have one of those too!
P1: Of course you do. Suffice it to say, this lady has a lot of cash.
P2: You can say that again!
P1: Suffice it to say, this lady has a lot of cash. Now, let’s meet other contestant. Contestant #2 is Charlie Churchmouse. Say hello, Charlie!
P3: Hi, kids!
P1: Charlie is poor.
P2: I prefer to call him “financially challenged”.
P3: I’m not challenged, I just don’t have very much money!
P1: All right, thank you, contestants! Now we’re ready to play “The Price is Right”. Recently, both Molly Moneybags and Charlie Churchmouse went to church. When the offering plate came around, Molly put in $10,000! (A sign with ‘$10,000’ written on it is held up next to Molly.) Charlie also put in some money for an offering – he gave $10. (A sign with ‘$10’ written on it is held up next to Charlie.) Here’s the big question, kids: Who gave more? If you think Charlie gave more, raise your hand. (Let kids respond.) If you think Molly gave more, raise your hand. (Let kids respond.) Looks like you thought Molly gave more!
P2: Well, of course! They may be young, but they can still count!
(The $ signs are taken down.)
P1: Let’s see what our Bible says for the answer…(consults Bible) Hmmmmm, based on what I’m reading here, it says that Charlie gave more…
P2: Uh, excuse me, Einstein, I don’t know what kind of calculators they used back in Bible times, but here in the 21st century, $10,000 is way more than $10.
P1: Well, let me ask the contestants a question: we know how much money you gave, now tell us how much of your money you gave.
P2: I just stuck my hand under my couch cushions, and gave whatever I found there.
P1: So you gave some of what you have. (A sign with ‘Some’ on it is held up next to Molly.)
P2: Oh, yes, I have lots more left, don’t worry!
P1: I won’t! How about you, Charlie Churchmouse?
P3: Well, I just had $10 in my piggy bank, so I gave that.
P1: So, you gave all of what you had?
P3: Yes, I guess so.
(A sign with ‘All’ on it is held up next to Charlie.)
P1: Well, kids, which is more, some or all? Raise your hands if you think “some” is more. (Kids respond.) Now, raise your hands if you think “all” is more. (Kids respond.) Looks like the “All”’s have it! Thank you, contestants! Kids, I guess we all learned today that God uses a different calculator when he looks at what we give him.
P2: You can say that again!
P1: Kids, I guess we all learned today that God uses a different calculator when he looks at what we give him.
P2: Oh, boy.
P1: Let’s remember to be like Charlie and give God our all, no matter what we’re doing! You’ll learn more about this idea in Sunday School. So long from “The Price is Right”!
